When the pill was first marketed in the 1960s, it was the dawn of the sexual revolution. Women’s rights group celebrated the hard fought for right to bodily autonomy, and the liberation of female sexuality finally began.
At the beginning of the year 2018, there are more than 140 million women using some form of hormonal contraception worldwide. But for the past six months, I’ve been asking myself about the cost of this sexual liberation to our mental and physical health. Are we, as women, really second class citizens in our own healthcare industry?
